Denim dilemma - Outfit

Leather midi skirt - Vintage
Stripey top - old so not sure
Denim Jacket - brother's old (originally gap)
Sheer tights - M&S
Boots - thrifted

This is my outfit in full that I wore last Sunday to the Scoop London fashion trade show. I love the leather skirt, it's such a cool statement piece. It can be quite dramatic but easily dressed down with an old denim jacket. I haven't worn a denim jacket in YEARS so I felt a little weird. I added super sheer tights and a stripey tee to add some contrast to the leather and then my new thrifted boots. It was very fun and if you haven't seen my post about the show and my day, read HERE

Pastel love

Hello all! I have just discovered Polyvore and it is amazing. It is the perfect way to keep track of things you want to buy or things you can't afford. This is the first one I've made but I think it turned out pretty well. I have my eye on a yellow Kanken bag and a pale pink coat, so that's what inspired this. I've always loved the colours pink and yellow together and I think they look especially good here, it's sort of clueless-esque.

Scoop international fashion show

Today I attended the Scoop fashion trade show held at the Saatchi gallery. In this post I'm going to tell you about the event and some of my favourite designers/collections that I saw.
The atmosphere was slightly tense, but mostly friendly. The majority of designers I spoke to were welcoming and open but the odd one did come off as a little dismissive. The venue was fantastic and the Saatchi gallery was an amazing place to show of your designs. It was clean and modern, so you weren't distracted from the clothes but the occasional piece of art made it that much more interesting to wander through. A lot of the designers I didn't think were too unique or special but I definitely found some cool brands that I liked.

Susannagh Grogan:

I was immediately drawn to Susannagh Grogan's fun prints and bright colours. Susannagh is an Irish designer, who has been printing for 15 years. Her unique silk scarves and adorable patterned clutches are so cute and a must for hot weather.

FSL clothing:

FSL (Filthy Sexy London) clothing describe their brand as 'Quintesential Edgy British Fashion'. Being a London girl, I loved their slogans and references to places I like to visit. The one shown below was particularly fitting seeing as the Saatichi gallery is on the Kings road. There are lots of other slogan sweatshirt brands out their but there was something more original about these ones. See their shop HERE.

Various by SEWN PR

This stall was run by Sewn PR and they had a variety of brands on show (listed in the photo below). My particular favourites were the Swedish Hasbeens shoes (I may have fallen in love with the pink pair) and the Sunpocket sunglasses which fold up into pocket-size.

Nishe:

This brand was definitely one of my favourites and one to look out for. It's a Hong Kong based brand with an Australian designer - Polly Siu. The photos I took really don't do the clothes justice and their collection was beautiful and unique. See their website (which has a super cool music) HERE or buy their clothes through asos HERE.

F-troupe:

In my opinion it's pretty hard to find original shoes, but I instantly fell in love with Mick Hoyle's bow boots.

Those are all the brands I took a particular shining to. I have an outfit post coming soon about what I wore to the event but here is a sneak preview and a photo of me outside the Saatchi.

These boots are made for walking

I've been thrifting/charity shop shopping so much recently and have found some amazing things, including these wonderful combat boots. They are so good that an old man actually serenaded me on the bus today with 'these boots are made for walking' - it was brilliant (and slightly awkward). I've been looking for a dr martin style boot for a long time, but I wanted something slightly more elegant and feminine because although they look great on some, dr martens aren't for me. That's why I was so thrilled when I found these bad boys in a local charity shop BRAND NEW. They were at the pretty decent price of £13. Anyway I have so many other amazing finds which I can't wait to share with you in the future. Now, enjoy the sweet sound of Nancy Sinatra.

Can you bear it?

Do you see what I did there with the title (bear tights 'bear it'? No? ok never mind ^_^). These photos were taken a week or so ago when Pascale and I went to the Club to Catwalk exhibition at the V&A, tried to go to the cinema twice but failed, and ended up very sarcastically going on what is most likely the world's smallest ice rink. It was also not real ice and probably what you would find in my kitchen, but with a bit of water on it. It was still so much fun, and we could not stop laughing as we attempted to skate whilst drinking hot chocolate. The exhibition was really cool, but I wasn't allowed to take pictures (I took some sneaky ones shhh but I won't post them in case a museum person stumbles across my blog). I really like these photos because they have a sort of blue/purple haze to them which is really pretty.

I wore my new AMAZING bear tights which I love dearly. My jacket was actually my brothers when he was younger but I have inherited it and I have been wearing it so much lately. It's nicely oversized and it's brown leather material with a cosy lining. The cardigan underneath was simply to keep me warm (because now that Christmas is over I keep forgetting that it's still winter). I opted for a pink gingham button up shirt with a black skirt to really go with the kawaii/anime character/kaichou wa maid-sama theme.

I've been listening to HAIM's days are gone album lately and I LOVE it! The wonderful Mattie introduced me to them and I now have the biggest girl crushes. Some of my favourite songs from the album include 'The wire', 'Don't save me' and 'Go slow'.

Urban Decay

When I was out shopping the other day I stopped by Urban Decay and this wonderful girl asked if I wanted to try some products. I usually say no to those things due to lack of time and the obligation that you sort of have to buy something, but I did have a voucher so I said yes! I asked if I could take a picture of Jazmin because her hair was soso cool! She seriously looks like some sort of wonderful fantasy creature and I love the colourful take on the ombre hair. Below are some (slightly awkward sorry) pictures of my eyes to show what an incredible job she did (seriously look at that wing it is FLAWLESS). I ended up buying a rosy gold eyeshadow she used as a highlight in my inner corner.

I wish I could do my makeup like that everyday!

Ring - fair

Hello all! Have any of you noticed the new Lexi Likes layout? With the help from a friend, I got a little nifty with my html coding. It's not a major change but this means I can fit large HD photos in my posts without them getting partly cut off. I also added another page below my banner for press/other writing as I recently wrote an article for Mckenzie mag online (the link to the article is on that page so check it out). Let me know if you like it! I have a fairly simple outfit for you all today but I loved all the well coordinated colours (if I do say so myself). I was given this purple velvet skirt for Christmas and I love it! It's a little loose around the waist so I tied this  gold/belt/sash thing around my waist to give it a bit more shape. I have been doing this a lot recently and it's a great way to show off your figure without wearing tight clothes. I made my unicorn crossing tee out of some iron transfer paper, a plain white t-shirt and a photo from tumblr. I took these photos on boxing day and it was really foggy and misty - it felt sort of surreal (apart from the awesome pink lemonade I drank that was totally real).

I have powered through the entire freaks and geeks series for the past two days (with spanish subtitles for some reason) and I quite liked it. At first I wasn't sure but you really gain empathy for the characters by the end of it. Are you a fan?

Vintage trench coat - a special guest

Lexingtons, meet our first special guest - my brother Jack. Interests include: Kung fu, physics, drawing really awesome manga and eating every last scrap of food in the house (including Lexi's crackers ugh). I bought him this vintage trench coat from the clothes show live for Christmas and thought it was the coolest thing, I had to share it with you. I also bought him an Attack on Titan hoodie which you will understand is amazing if you are an anime fan. You can go follow my brother on twitter HERE.

It was a really foggy day and these photos have a sort of mystical vibe. I have an outfit post from the same day coming soon so look forward to that!

much love
