Birthday wishlist

Hello lovelies! My Birthday is coming up (March 5th to be precise) and I thought I would do a wishlist of the moment with a few things I'm loving.

For those of you who don't know (I think in this case that's few) I am obsessed with teddies. When I spotted this vintage sweatshirt on Asos it was love at first sight.

These shoes are so adorable. I basically live in different pairs of black ankle boots so I'm dying for some variety. I've seen a few of my favourite bloggers with similar ones and they always look so simple, fresh and cute. I can see these paired with some tie dye frilly socks.

I feel like this is such a wardrobe staple but I have barely endeavored into Maxi territory. You can layer it for Winter and it would also be fab in Summer on the beach. Also it's on sale for £10! Going to order this soon!

Desperate for a vinyl skirt at the moment, extra brownie points if it's a pastel one. I love the contrasting texture it can add to an outfit.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson

Franny and Zooey and Will Grayson, Will Grayson

Both of these books have been highly recommended to me. The first by Tavi in her talk at the Opera house and the second by many of my friends. I have so many books I want to read and this is only the start of the list.

Those are a few things I'm saving for/loving at the moment. Let me know if you find something you think I will like and tweet me HERE because I have been using my twitter a lot lately!

Living in a curiosity shop

In Sweden I stayed with my Grandma who I now pronounce Queen hoarder. In her house, there is not an inch of bare wall and everything has something on it, beside it or hanging on the end of it. I thought it would be interesting to ask her some questions about her house, design inspiration and even being 'indie' and the problems teenagers face today.

How old is your house?

100 years old. It was built in 1897.

Would you call yourself a hoarder?

No not really, I don't live on my own do I?

What about a collector then?

No not really, I shall say I'm an inheritor.

Why do you keep everything and display it all?
As I said I don't live on my own, I have a husband and a lot of these things are his.

So do you think it's important to keep it all from different families for memories?
It's important for him. I wish you had seen my old flat in Stockholm, it wasn't at all like this. It was very elegant and not so cluttered.

Where do you find inspiration for your home decor?

Well it's very 'in' in Sweden, it's the thing to do, in the country really. In magazines, all the magazines I buy really talk about or write about people going to car boot sales and buying old things.

What do you think the oldest thing in the house is?

Probably the copper pots are very old. Also some glass things which aren't displayed are very old.

Would you say everything here has a story or means something to you?

Well, yeah but I've had many homes. Some had typical Swedish style but when I came here I didn't want to have Ikea.

What made you transition into this style then?

I wanted to be different, I've always wanted to be different. When I'm here I want to be more English. I don't think we have anything from Ikea here.

What about fashion, what are your favourite styles?

Classical stuff. I don't wear frill frills *makes gestures* I look like a great big doll. No I like classic fashion and also here I tend to wear twin sets and tweed. I don't like bling bling *more gestures* and I never wear anything in my ears.

Do you lean towards a certain colour pallet in the house?

I am very fond of blue. I would never have anything orange and I would never have anything grey.

Do you have a lot of things from travelling?

Yes, yes. It's like this Alexis, I like to be different. When we bought those *points to giraffe* in Africa no one had one. But then you could buy them in markets here and I thought 'I don't want that anymore, put it away'. I think it's important to be individual.

Are you familiar with the term 'indie'? It's a thing used in England among teenagers and it means being individual.

Oh yes I know what you mean. Being different and having individuality. Well of course that's important for teenagers. But on the other hand it's important to be accepted by the group. Let's say you like sports and all your friends walk around in trainers, or you're a fashion girl then you will dress differently. Are you an individual then? Not really because you are the same as the group.

What do you think the greatest problem facing the teenage generation today?

I don't think it matters if you look the same as your friends as long as you are happy. For some it's difficult to know exactly where they belong. Let's say someone loves certain pop music and they want to be like their idols then that's okay. But then in a few years you might think that's not me at all.

So there you go. Wise words of wisdom from my nutty Grandma. Thank you Inga for letting me put photos of your stuff on the internet.

Queen of the purple lines

Hey! I'm back in London and I have an outfit post for you! Sweden was good, man those people know design. Seriously even their airports were cool. These photos were taken in the old town with my new Emma Warren Purple lines clutch. I exchanged some emails with Emma about her printed clutches because I thought they were so original and she kindly answered my questions. She takes her clutch print photos on a Diana lomography camera from Urban Outfitters and they are all photos from her travels. In her email she said: 'Lomography brings something different to photography and makes for quite interesting prints for fashion as they are quite often not perfect images! With blurs and double exposure but I think this is what makes them so eye catching and beautiful'. I think that sums it up pretty well! I am so pleased with mine and the quality is great. It comes in the post nicely wrapped with a hand written note which makes it so much more personal. See Emma's Asos Marketplace shop HERE.

As for the rest of my outfit, I picked up this amazing high-low black dress for £3 at the Clothes show live. I kind of feel like a super hero when I wear this, with the solid tights and the crown emblem. I am undecided on my ideal super power though. I draped my brothers old leather jacket over my shoulders which I wear pretty much every day now.

Dress - clothes show live
Tights - Forever 21
Jacket - Brother's
Clutch - Emma warren
Boots - Clarks

Thank you Emma for answering my questions!

Pure London Fashion trade show - Spirit catwalk (Part 3)

For the final part of my Pure show posts, I'm going to talk about my favourite looks from the Spirit catwalk. This one was divided into segments with different brands exhibiting at the show and therefore the clothes were aimed to be more wearable. I really love all of the outfits below and they all include some of my favourite trends right now.

I saw lots of two piece sets over the day and have made it my mission to track down this gorgeous yellow one.

Love the flamingo print of the kimono here!

This look was absolutely stunning, and gives off the perfect hard-meets-feminine vibe.

Two tone boots are fab.

I am desperate for a pair of holographic shoes so I had to show you this outfit. I also love the clear jacket.

More holographic + clear jackets.

This dress has a very '60s print and it is SO cool.

Rad vinyl skirt and MORE holographic shoes.

Lastly, here is a wonderful bracelet I was given in the Pure goodie bag from Cleric. I've never seen anything like it, it's so bright and eyecatching! I'm not usually a fan of neon but I really love this!

Which outfit was your favourite and which trends are you loving right now?

Pure London Fashion trade show - Womenswear catwalk (Part 2)

Welcome to part 2 of my Pure London post.  This one is going to be about the Womenswear catwalk and my favourite looks from the show. I came pretty early to this one as I wanted to get a good seat for taking photos (this was a very good plan as I ended up in the frow - fashion terminology knowledge there on point  I know). Some of the photos are also from the UKTI preview night I attended on Monday, where the same catwalk was held.

The shape of this coat is fabulous.

Yellow is one of my favourite colours and I am always drawn to it. This means I live in yellow tights (see this post) and I love the way they are coordinated here.

I am in love with this dress, the shape of it looks so good on tall girls and the socks and boots complete the look perfectly.

I love the sassy vibes of this one, especially the bomber style jacket. It makes me want to sit in a diner and put on black lipstick.

I love the contrast in this look of the boyish structured leather top with such a flowy skirt. This one was particularly cool to watch on the Sunday as everyone was ah-ing over the fab tulle skirt and I was wearing a tulle skirt so I felt special.

And finally, here is a photo of me on Monday night at the UKTI preview event on the catwalk (with a press pass and everything). Which look was your favourite?

p.s I'm currently in Sweden till Tuesday so a few scheduled posts will be going up but I won't have access to wifi so I won't be on twitter, instagram etc. See you soon!

Pure London Fashion trade show - Brands that caught my eye (Part 1)

Hello all! On Sunday I attended the Pure London fashion trade show at Kensington Olympia. I'm going to break it up into two or three parts as I have a lot of content and things to talk about. Today's post is going to be about my favourite brands I saw there and then I will have coverage on the catwalks coming over the next week or so.

Pop Boutique London:

The girl I spoke to at Pop boutique London was so nice and I love all of their clothes. Many were vintage inspired such as the two piece sets and '60s style shift dresses. Some of their clothes were recycled from old pieces and turned into something new (third photo) such as a pair of Tartan shorts I spotted which were originally a long skirt. They gave me some awesome flyers with old vintage photos on them and have added them to my endless collage wall! Check out Pop boutique HERE.

The Feather tree:

I love the bright prints of the feather tree and their feather earrings are so interesting. All of the fabrics are from markets in Kenya, so often pieces are one of a kind. All of the clothes are made in Kenya too by a select few tailors. They also make hair feathers/feather extensions which I have never tried but love the look of! See their website HERE.

Fanpac London and Mr Freedom:

Next is Fanpac London and Mr Freedom (they were part of the same stall). Fanpac London's design inspiration is taken from Rock 'n' roll. They have several band T-shirts and other designs referencing older pop culture. See their site HERE

Now if you're older or a fan of '60s fashion, you might know Mr Freedom. They were a clothing boutique in London in the '60s who sold pop art fashion and huge at the time. They have made a comeback and are up and running, once again in the Kings road. I plan to pay their new store a visit at some point because from what I saw at Pure, their clothes are looking pretty rad.

Orelia:

I am a massive fan of gold jewellery, so I automatically looked at Orelia. Their delicate pieces were simple yet pretty and bright. I loved the eastern influences and how the brand's inspiration was taken from traveling.

Chic Freak:

Chic Freak's PVC fabric immediately caught my eye. The dresses have such interesting prints layered on top and they are so original. I liked the rain coats too actually, especially the brighter ones - that would really cheer up a grey-day outfit. They were sponsored by this drink called Firefly which had adorable packaging and I tried and quite liked. See Chic Freak's website HERE.

Nu:

As a member of the press, I was given an incredibly generous goody-bag which I won't show in depth, but this amazing leather cuff from Nu is so gorgeous I couldn't resist. The quality is beautiful and I am in love with this piece!

Those were all of my favourite brands I found, which one is your favourite? Look forward to coverage on the Pure catwalks in the near future!
