Asian apron dress

Hello lovelies! On Friday night I was at the Asia house Spring Fair and picked up this amazing apron which I decided to take on as a dress. I love Asian fashion and design so I was very pleased with this find. I think it looks so unique and it's such an interesting piece to layer over a skirt and a t-shirt. Yes, it is an apron but I think it sort of passes for a pinafore. I love the prancing bunnies and the back is so pretty.

Apron - stall at Asia house fair (see picture below)
Skirt (underneath) - M&S
T-shirt - Gap
Sheer tights - M&S
Boots - Thrifted
Bag - Kanken
Leather cuff - Nu

This is the super coordinated stall I bought the apron from. They had a variety of adorable trinkets and authentic items. I also purchased some pouches with little kawaii characters on them.

Another brand that caught my eye is Posh Graffiti. They had beautiful hand carved wooden lettering and woven baskets which are made by local communities living in the rainforest in Borneo. It's a great scheme and their products are lovely.

The other brand was Lotusfeet who had really cute and original, fairly high end jewellery for such good prices. I bought three of the bracelets from the above bowl for £15.

Lots of exciting things are happening for this blog so stay tuned!

MUN - Pictures & vlog

Hello all! Sorry for my absence this past week but the weekend was spent at my MUN conference and the weekdays have been spent catching up on missed work. If you haven't read my last post, MUN is Model United Nations. Each school represents a country and you're assigned a committee where you talk about politics and issues from that country's perspective. I was Saudi Arabia Political committee, which was interesting, especially as I had to talk about womens' rights (and I'm a feminist). I spoke a lot and debated some really interesting issues. I also met so many new people. If you get a chance to do any MUN conference, I would really recommend it! This post is going to be some of my photos from the trip. Also my friend Aliya vlogged it so you can see that here too.

The best part about MUN is the note passing. You write a note to whoever and address it to the country and committee of the person, then the messengers come and take it and deliver it to them. This is how I met Kirsty (above). I sent a note to her about how much I loved her knitted hair bows and her style in general (think kawaii, cute and smart). She replied telling me she made them herself, which I thought was so cool. I asked her if I could photograph them and she kindly agreed so here they are.

I didn't get a chance to take many photos (except for cheesy selfies in Scottish hats) but I did take these slow shutter speed ones when Aliya and I were exploring our hotel at night. At first they were an accident, but then I liked the sci-fi effect and took a couple more.

And finally here is the vlog! Aliya has a great Youtube channel so subscribe okay?

That's my MUN post! I'll be back to regular blogging soon, especially as Easter holidays are just around the corner.

Chuck skirt and tartan tights

Hey! I have an outfit post for you today from my trip to Sweden a little while ago. I bought this amazing skirt when I was there after watching some episodes of Pushing Daisies and feeling very inspired by the character Chuck. She always wears fab poofy '50s skirts. The show was on TV a while ago but I was recommended it by a friend recently and now I'm hooked. It follows the path of a man, Ned, who can bring people back to life if he touches them. If he touches them again they go back to being dead and he can't revive them. But after touching them once, if they are alive for more than a minute someone in close proximity has to die in their place. It's a little confusing but the first episode explains it well. Chuck is Ned's childhood sweetheart who he brings back to life. However it's almost painful to watch as they are so in love but they can't touch. The two and a private investigator solve crimes together by reviving murder victims and asking them who killed them, then collect they reward. The best part of the show is by far Chuck's wardrobe choices, and the fact that Ned owns the coolest pie shop ever but that's a separate matter.

Hat - Sweden
Jumper - Topshop
Skirt - Sweden
Tartan tights - Clazedonia
Boots - Clarks
Leather cuff - Pure london goodie bag

one / two / three

It was an amazing coincidence that on the same day of watching the show and buying the skirt my grandma made pie for pudding without me even mentioning it to her. It was all very aesthetically pleasing and the pie was every bit as good as it looks.

I'd really like to do a full lookbook inspired by Chuck so let me know in a comment if you would be interested!

14

Yesterday it was my birthday. I had the most wonderful day with many awkward, some enthusiastic and one Spanish serenade of Happy Birthday. I was also thrown an awesome lunch time surprise party which was basically a 6 year old's dream complete with musical chairs, statues and the high school musical soundtrack. My amazing friend's gave me cards and gifts and made me a birthday video too. Overall it was an amazing day and I want to thank everyone for making it so lovely!

As my present I got a new guitar and here are some pictures of it/buying it/with it. If any of you need one I seriously recommend going to Denmark street in central London. It has all the best guitar shops all on one little road. We went into all the different shops and tested out so many guitars until I found one I liked. I ended up buying it from Wunjo guitars and the people there were so nice and looked like they came straight out of the '60s. They also seemed really passionate when chatting to me about music, they didn't just want to make a sale.

For any of you curious, it's the make Guild and it's an acoustic that you can plug into an amp (so it's sort of electric too).

Do you play any instruments?

A very vintage weekend

Hey! I have spent the majority of this weekend working through the massive pile of homework I have left till the weekend and having weird skype calls with the human incarnate of Legolas. But I did meet up with a new friend on Saturday to go thrifting and again on Sunday to go to a car boot sale. It was a very vintage weekend.

I met up with Isla who just started a blog which you should all go check out HERE. We took outfit photos in the sun, went hunting through charity shops and ate ice cream. I wore my fab new monochrome tights which I picked up in Sweden and finally got an excuse to wear my favourite sunglasses.

Tie-dye tee - DIY/self made
Skirt - M&S
Belt - vintage
Sunnies - french market
Tights - Sweden
Jacket - brother's old
Bag - Kanken
Boots - thrifted

This is the maxi skirt I found in a charity shop for £6 and it's originally from Asos. I have never been a floral gal and I think this is the only floral thing I own. I don't know they've just never appealed to me but the sun was out and I had Spring in my brain so I went for it.

This is Isla looking super cute in her retro sunnies, rose gold satchel and the new '80s looking necklace she bought in one of the charity shops.

Then on Sunday (today) we went to the car boot sale,

Isla bought this vintage tin which looks like it was from some old chocolate shop in Brussels. That's my favourite thing about old things, making up and thinking about the story behind them and where they came from.

One stall had this amazing scrapbook filled with pages and pages of old postcards and photographs.

I bought this oversized vintage shirt for £2. It was from a lady who sells vintage and old clothes from her travels in places like Italy and France so who knows where this came from. I think this will look really good with leggings and some heeled boots or over a bikini in the summer.

Finally, I bought this adorable glass tea cup which has the prettiest purple iridescence to it when it catches the light. It was part of a punch bowl set but I just bought one cup for £1 and I have put all my rings in it.

It was a lovely way to spend the weekend and nice to see some sun too. Make sure you check out Isla's blog!
