The Glamour of Italian fashion exhibition at the V&A

Hello all! I'm currently on half term, where I get a week off school but I have to spend that week revising for exams. I'm actually really ill at the moment, so I have done barely any revision and the only thing my mind can focus on is episodes of Sherlock and '80s movies. Speaking of which I have found the greatest jacket known to man which totally reminds me of John Cusack's  signature jacket in Say Anything. I was clearing out our spare bedroom and found it at the back of  a wardrobe. It's a vintage jacket from the '80s that was my mum's (although she is never getting it back). It is such an amazing shape and I never want to take it off.

Jacket - Vintage
Jumper - really old
Skirt - I wore in a dance show last year and kept it because I really loved the colour
Boots - Thrifted
Bag (on my back) - Kanken
Dolphin choker - really really old

Recently I went to the Glamour of Italian fashion exhibition at the V&A. The V&A is my favourite museum in London and there are always new things going on there.  They had pieces that were in films in the '50s and '60s in Hollywood when Italian fashion was worn by people such as Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor. They also have pieces by Italian fashion houses such as Pucci, Valentino, Versace, Missoni, Prada and Miu Miu. All the clothes were so beautiful and daring. The exhibition was amazing and I really recommend going.

Life in Film at the Borderline

On Thursday night I went to see Life in Film at the Borderline in central London. It was actually in Soho and I walked through the Soho hotel where I went to the Good results PR press day a little while ago. Whenever I'm there now I feel like a young Carrie Bradshaw, finding her way in the city and going to cool concerts and events, and then I go to school the next day and it kind of kills the buzz ^_^. But Life in Film are a really good band and we went to see them for Alice's birthday. The Borderline was a really cool venue and we were right at the front. We missed most of the opening band, The Book Club, but what I saw was pretty good. I really want to start going to more concerts and gigs because the energy of any live music is so great. Life in Film are pretty small at the moment but they sound really amazing live. I managed to pinch the set list at the end. It is ripped and was soaked in beer but it captures the atmosphere perfectly.

Here are a few of my favourite songs they played.

Have you been to any concerts recently?

Maxi skirt & emo bracelets

Hey, it's (insert your name) right? Welcome back. Sorry to have abandoned you for a week but the joys of end of year exams have joined me. I know lots of you have had actual real GCSEs or other exams too, so I'm sure you're in a similar state of procrastination. In other news, this giant skeleton-like branch fell from a neighboring tree into our garden and I thought it would be interesting to shoot an outfit with.

This is my new signature hairstyle I think. I've sort of stolen it from Lucy in my favourite anime Fairy Tail, which if you don't watch I totally recommend. I sometimes wear a ribbon around the little side pony too, which definitely adds to the anime character effect.

I have been loving my new maxi skirt lately. It's so comfortable and easy to wear. It's oddly empowering and instantly makes you look taller.

Silver ring - H&M (from a set)
Mid ring - Miss selfridge

Heroes shirt - brother's old
Skirt - M&S
Boots - thrifted

Necklace was a gift from my friend Shivani ("necklace?" - how she will respond to reading this) who I don't think even knows I have a blog but hey thanks! It's so pretty and I've been wearing it all the time.

And here are said Emo bracelets next to some dainty flowers because who doesn't love a good contrast? The skull charm one is sort of childish but really reminds me of my very own cliched goth phase. The other black beaded one was a gift from my brother, and if you look closely has all the My Chemical Romance album cover art on each bead. And that is why I call them emo bracelets.

I designed an outfit! Makies collaboration

I have something so exciting to show you all today! I designed an outfit for Makie dolls and it's now being sold on their site. If you haven't heard of Makies, they are 3D printed dolls that you can design online to look precisely like you (or however you please) right down to the eyebrow shape, cheekbones and nose size. Here is a video which is on their site to show you a little about them.

The lovely Jen contacted me a little while ago, asking if I wanted to join a project their doing where style bloggers design outfits for the dolls. I thought it was such a great idea and immediately said yes. Something you may not know is that I actually got into blogs and the internet by watching doll related youtube channels when I was 9. As I grew older, I crossed over into the fashion and style side of the internet, but dolls were my original interest, so I was particularly pleased to get involved with this collaboration. So here is the outfit I designed! The first snap is from their online shop and a picture of the tag.

Here are some snaps of my own Makie doll (who looks just like me) modelling the outfit!

Apologies for the spam of doll photos but it was she is too cute (my 9 year old self would be proud). Go check out the outfit on the Makies website and read more about my inspiration for the design HERE. They also did a really sweet description about me so go have a look! If you want to create a Makie doll or want to design one, you can visit their webisteTolly and Mia also designed outfits so check theirs out too!

Disclaimer: I was not paid to design or for this post. I was sent the doll and outfit for free in exchange for working with  Makies on a design. All opinions are my own!

Current obsession: Paramore & Hayley Williams

I've always been a massive fan of rock music, and Paramore's Misery Business was one of my favourite songs from a very young age. There is something so empowering about Hayley Williams' voice and I never get tired of hearing it. She also has such cool style which I'll talk about a little later on. Paramore music is so upbeat but there is something quite electric about the way it makes you feel (if that makes any sense at all) and I absolutely love watching their music videos. The one below is my favourite and it's for the song Still Into You. It basically looks like a giant party filled with ballerinas, bikes, sparklers and a sea of balloons - all in this fancy house with pastel walls that match Hayley's jacket perfectly (so aesthetically pleasing). I love the way Hayley dances too as it looks natural and fun, not choreographedThey described it in this interview as trying to capture that magical feeling when you're still in love with someone visually. The song has such great energy and I think the music video captures it perfectly.

Here are some pictures and gifs from the video because I am obsessed with Hayley's outfit. The tights and jacket are so rad.

My other favourites by them at the moment are Part II and Ain't it Fun (which also has a great music video but I think that's enough for today). Are you a Paramore fan?
