We were told in our last art lesson of the year that over Christmas, the walls are being knocked down and redone. Our A level class decided to make use of the blank canvas soon to be destroyed. Here is a video of the process.
In my latest video, I talk about drama and performing - how much fun it is and how it benefits your self-confidence and friendships. Check it out below or watch HERE.
Welcome to leXmas! I'm going to make as many videos as I can this December as part of my new festive series. Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss all the fun.
In my latest video, I share with you my favourite books spanning from about age 6 to the present day. Arguably it's the stories I loved as a child which will prove to be the most influential in my life, so I think there's merit in sharing beloved children's fiction. If you're a writer, filmmaker or storyteller lacking inspiration, I urge you to return to the tales from your childhood. They might just reignite your spark.
So far I am loving sixth form. I love my subjects, I love that I can manage my own time, and I love not having a uniform. It may seem like a trivial difference to some, but I've found it makes a pretty big difference; I feel much more myself. Last week I filmed my outfits for school to share some transitional attire. Although I miss the elegance and space of Somerset house, Brewer Street does have a certain bustling charm which seems fitting for London Fashion Week. The chaos of running in and out of back streets, trying not to get hit by executive cars driving in and out of the venue, whilst photographing people or being photographed - it's lively to say the least. This year, to change it up, I thought I'd make a short video showcasing some of the colourful characters of Soho during fashion week. Watch above or click HERE.
I have a fascination with teenage bedrooms. There's something special about how your self discovery is embodied in such a small space. Your teen bedroom is like an evolving museum of your life so far, reflecting on what you've done and what you're interested in. I always enjoy meeting new people, seeing what their room is like, and connecting the dots between them and the space they've created. One of my favourite examples is my friend Lily. Her room is such an accurate representation of her; it's hard to put into words. Instead, enjoy this short film I made of her room and these photographs.
The highlight of our family holiday in Turkey was a boat trip around the coast of Kas. We hired the boat of Captain Ergun and his lovely wife Merve. They were such lovely people, and made the experience even better. Merve cooked an incredible Turkish meal for lunch, which was probably the best food I we ate all holiday. To top it all off, at our final stop we saw and swam with turtles, which was incredible. See our day in my video below, or click HERE.
Drone and some gopro footage c/o @captainergun and Jack. Check out their website HERE.
With several pockets of Japanese culture, Hyper Japan is definitely a colourful event on my calendar. I first became interested in manga and anime when my brother introduced me at around age 12. I watched Fairy Tail (and a few others) routinely until I was around 14. Although I'm no longer an avid anime watcher, Japanese culture still fascinates me, so Hyper Japan has become a highlight of my summer. It is a weird and wonderful celebration/market with good food and eccentric people.
Recently, my dear brother Jack graduated from Cambridge University. Watch my account of the day below or click HERE.
It is still bizarre to me that he is now a fully fledged adult, who will start working in September, and that education (for the most part) is behind him. There are certain junctions of his life that I remember vividly, as a bystander. One is the day we went to buy him suits for sixth form, and I thought he looked so mature. I also a remember a week later, dropping him off at the tube station for his work experience, again, standing in awe of my sophisticated older brother. It's funny now I am at that exact same period of my life, and I don't feel nearly as grown-up as I thought I would.
I remember going to visit Cambridge with him, and being incredibly jealous he got to start his life so soon, longing for the day I could leave school. Now, I am close to applying to university myself, and whilst it is still an exciting prospect, I don't feel such a desire to give up my teenage years. In fact, I'm starting to really enjoy them.
So now I wonder where Jack and I will be on the day of my graduation. It's daunting to even speculate how different our lives will be.
If you're interested in Jack and his Cambridge experience, he's followed the wise path of his little sister and started a blog. If you're interested in reading (highly recomend) check it out HERE.
