Another Day of Sun

After spending the first half of my summer working at an amazing summer job, I'm finally getting some sunshine and a holiday. My days now are largely spent by the sea (which is a happy place of mine), but it's not quite as relaxing as I'd hoped. My final year of school is looming frightfully near, as is the storm of university applications and A-levels. I'm trying to establish a balance of doing things to make the next few months easier and also savouring my last days of peace.

AUTUMN OUTFITS - VIDEO


So far I am loving sixth form. I love my subjects, I love that I can manage my own time, and I love not having a uniform. It may seem like a trivial difference to some, but I've found it makes a pretty big difference; I feel much more myself. Last week I filmed my outfits for school to share some transitional attire. The Best Vintage In Edinburgh (And Maybe The World)

I was in Edinburgh for Fringe, to see two shows in 24 hours. With half an hour to spare, I stumbled across Armstrong's Vintage. I was then transported through a portal to another world (at least that's what it felt like). 



You enter the store into a small room, with some classic disco dresses on one side, and kilts on the other. Cute, modest, and nothing compared with the rest of the store. The deceiving small doorway at the back leads you down a corridor, and then opens out to two large rooms, both with tall ceilings and packed racks filled with clothes. It was a tardis of fabric and glitter. 



It was the best kind of store - so much to look at you don't know where to start. Cluttered and chaotic, ordered by era and item, yet still a lot to take in. It had the feeling that searching hard enough through the emporium would lead you to a piece of treasure, something special. And this premonition definitely didn't disappoint.

'70s in Sigtuna




On my last day in Sweden, we visited the town Sigtuna. Founded in 980 and with a population of just over 8000,  it's a sweet window into old Sweden. The pastel houses with lanterns and low ceilings look like they are straight out of a Wes Anderson film set. Each detail seemed like something from a storybook, and as I walked around, I couldn't quite comprehend that this town was real. From toy-like bicycles to hand painted shop signs to an antique phone box, I felt like I was living my dream '70s suburban teen movie.



After walking through the whimsical and quaint main street, we went down to the Lake. It was breathtaking. It was bright and inviting, with a large open deck looking out on to the rolling water. I couldn't resist taking some Dawson's Creek-esque pictures of me looking moody by the water, to once again make my suburban teen movie dreams come true.

STOCKHOLM STYLE


I've felt out of sync with the whole blogging world these past few weeks. Year 11 is in full swing, and as my life gets increasingly busy, I needed some time away to recharge my creative batteries. A trip to Sweden later, and I'm back from my short hiatus, with new ideas and stories to share. 


Before visiting my grandmother in a more rural part of Sweden, I had a day and I half to explore Stockholm. The city was enveloped in autumn, with vibrant leaves and chilly winds laced through the streets (the real reason for those stylish Scandi scarves).

Embracing the simple Scandi colour scheme, I opted for this denim dress and my black cloak, which nowadays rarely leaves my shoulders.


The structure and architecture of the city was dynamic and engaging, each island with its own purpose and personality.

THE DECADE DIARIES: '70s edition

My obsession with vintage fashion and old things is probably common knowledge to most of you by now. I'm fascinated by the past and how each decade is associated with a signature trend or movement. I love old music, movies and books and how they all influenced fashion in some way. So, I've launched a new series on my youtube channel called The Decade Diaries, which I'm going to use as a way to channel vintage trends, era by era, and share them with you! What I wore to London Fashion Week

Due to school play rehearsals, I've only been able to attend one day of Fashion Week this season, but nonetheless it was fabulous. This was my attire, and here's how the day went down.




WHAT I WORE:
Coat - H&M
Dress - Vintage (thrifted)
Head scarf - no clue
Thigh high boots - Next
Backpack - Kanken

I decided to channel some strong mod '60s vibes for my look with these space-cadet-borderline-stripper boots and my vintage dress. After watching the J. JS Lee show, I explored the exhibition halls and hung out with the lovely Ellie and my friend Sky (who was my accomplice in all this). I met lots of new people and saw some very stylish characters (street style post soon to come).





There were adorable dogs wandering around and also a really creepy astronaut, who made no comment after my complement on his/her attire and awkward encouraging thumbs up. Overall, going to Somerset house is great just to soak up the atmosphere.  It's also inevitable you'll be given free popcorn and see some impeccable street style.

Fly me to the moon

I greet you at the end of what has been a very busy week. I've had play rehearsals, surprise chemistry tests, art projects, 'booty fit' classes, outings with friends and some very cool blog opportunities. I threw together this quirky combo this morning in a hurry but I'm very pleased with the outcome. The leotard is actually from a dance store, and the last time I wore it was at my 13th birthday disco - no shame there. It's perfect for layering under baggy trousers or skirts because it gives you a beautiful silhouette and stays tucked in. Welcome to the '60s

New year, new aesthetic phase. Welcome to the '60s. For the last week or so, I have been parading the streets of London in shift dresses and suede coats, attempting to embody such a pleasing decade. What better way to show you than taking pictures in an antique store and the closest thing to a diner I have nearby.

As you may have noticed, I got a new lens for Christmas! I'm still getting the hang of it but it's all soft and dreamy. If any of you are curious, it's the 50mm 1.8 G. My hair is so long now, it's nearly down to my waist! I'm getting it cut on Monday, so hopefully I can do some more '60s-esque Dos then. I've also created a '60s pinterest board filled with vintage inspo, which you can check out HERE if you're curious. Meanwhile, I'm spending my last days of freedom & the holidays watching Breakfast at Tiffany's and drinking lots of chocolate milk. What about you?

The Glamour of Italian fashion exhibition at the V&A

Hello all! I'm currently on half term, where I get a week off school but I have to spend that week revising for exams. I'm actually really ill at the moment, so I have done barely any revision and the only thing my mind can focus on is episodes of Sherlock and '80s movies. Speaking of which I have found the greatest jacket known to man which totally reminds me of John Cusack's  signature jacket in Say Anything. I was clearing out our spare bedroom and found it at the back of  a wardrobe. It's a vintage jacket from the '80s that was my mum's (although she is never getting it back). It is such an amazing shape and I never want to take it off.

Recently I went to the Glamour of Italian fashion exhibition at the V&A. The V&A is my favourite museum in London and there are always new things going on there.  They had pieces that were in films in the '50s and '60s in Hollywood when Italian fashion was worn by people such as Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor. They also have pieces by Italian fashion houses such as Pucci, Valentino, Versace, Missoni, Prada and Miu Miu. All the clothes were so beautiful and daring. The exhibition was amazing and I really recommend going.

Totoro tights


Happy Easter everyone! I have a super kawaii outfit for you today featuring these INCREDIBLE Totoro tights from my wonderful friend Izzy. She gave them to me as a late birthday present along with a Totoro phone case and I nearly cried. As you may remember, I have the bear versions of these tights which I styled ages ago HERE. If you aren't familiar with the anime film My Neighbor Totoro, first where was your childhood and second there are some gifs and pictures from tumblr below to help (yes I put a leaf on my head deal with it). At first I was so annoyed at the rain because I couldn't take any decent pictures but then I remembered the iconic scene in the movie with the leaf and black umbrella so it worked out quite well. I even did kawaii inspired makeup and hair and I'm thinking about doing a tutorial on my youtube soon.
