A Period of Transition

We're in a period of transition from Summer to Autumn. The days are cooler but not yet under the rule of Winter's bitter clasps. The nights are longer but you can still come home in the light. As we undergo the routine metamorphosis of the weather, our wardrobes change too. It's that blissful yet short window in London where you can live in jeans and a t-shirt. You can start to put away your Summer dresses and slowly bring out the jackets, the trousers, the cardigans but the big coat is not needed. I love it.

I shot this outfit in New York over the Summer but I think it remains resonant in this golden window for getting dressed. The blue linen trousers I found in a charity shop last year and they are the easiest thing to style (but not the easiest thing to iron). The other piece to highlight is my white Supergas which I've worn pretty much every day since I bought them in July; the perfect transitional shoe.

AUTUMN OUTFITS - VIDEO

So far I am loving sixth form. I love my subjects, I love that I can manage my own time, and I love not having a uniform. It may seem like a trivial difference to some, but I've found it makes a pretty big difference; I feel much more myself. Last week I filmed my outfits for school to share some transitional attire. AUTUMN INSPIRATION

Autumn is my favourite season. I've written about it before, but the magic transition from Summer to Autumn, and then Autumn to Winter, always inspires. At the moment I'm obsessed the moody, suburban colour palettes of the '70s and '80s. Warm tones of orange, red and brown, contrasted with dark green and blue. I've been re-watching Stranger Things, and have such an appreciation for the visuals of the show, which perfectly enhance the twisted suburban setting. I'm also really into a recent series made by Vogue, which you can watch HERE, featuring Camille Rowe titled 'What On Earth Is Wellness'. Each episode is fascinating, and explores a different area of the craze that is wellness. Camille Rowe is such a warm and endearing person to watch too. Along with the great content, once again the visuals are stunning, and tie in perfectly with the aesthetic I'm into at the moment. Here's my digital mood board for Autumn 2016. All photos are from my tumblr, or screenshots from the shows.

It's my favourite time of year.

The Fashion Week Formula

To conclude the fashion week posts, I thought I'd share what I wore. Fashion week is this weird hybrid of a business meeting, a competitive school mufti-day and one of the coolest parties you've ever been to. So what do you wear to a thing like that?

EUDON CHOI AW16

To kick off London Fashion Week, I watched the Eudon Choi show at Brewer Street. The '70s tailoring combined with a light, whimsical colour scheme created this playful yet elegant vibe which I loved. Here are some of my favourite looks.

Exhibit A of how to wear a lilac pant suit and look chic as ever.

I'm obsessed with the '70s trend of long skirts with long boots, and the pastel hues here gave it a modern edge.

The patterned pieces were louder, but streamlined with shift silhouettes and in this case a camel coat.

STOCKHOLM STYLE

I've felt out of sync with the whole blogging world these past few weeks. Year 11 is in full swing, and as my life gets increasingly busy, I needed some time away to recharge my creative batteries. A trip to Sweden later, and I'm back from my short hiatus, with new ideas and stories to share.

Before visiting my grandmother in a more rural part of Sweden, I had a day and I half to explore Stockholm. The city was enveloped in autumn, with vibrant leaves and chilly winds laced through the streets (the real reason for those stylish Scandi scarves).

LEXI WEARS:

Dress - Vintage via Rokit
Cloak - Boohoo
Boots - Thrifted
Bag - Kanken

Embracing the simple Scandi colour scheme, I opted for this denim dress and my black cloak, which nowadays rarely leaves my shoulders.

The structure and architecture of the city was dynamic and engaging, each island with its own purpose and personality.

TRANSITION

Currently, we're in my favourite period of the year. The transition from Summer to Autumn is magical. The air is crisper, the leaves get darker and I get to walk around in witchy cloaks. What's not to love?

House of Fraser Press Day - AW15

Last Thursday, I headed down to Baker Street after school to see House of Fraser's new collections for Autumn/Winter. The people were very friendly and they had some gorgeous pieces.

They had wonderful bags in lots of pastel and neutral tones.

I saw a lot of '70s inspired pieces, including this fabulous suede co-ord and striped wide leg trousers.

This DKNY bag has to be my favourite piece. Donna Karan never fails to create classic items with a modern, edgy twist.

When it comes to my winter wardrobe, the perfect coat tends to be the hardest to find. I always struggle to find something new and original but the vast range of colours and textures at the press day meant I picked out at least three I would buy.

Menswear isn't something I talk about a lot, but I did have a peek at their new range. It was really diverse, and I couldn't resist this green bomber. The structured leather coat is lovely too.

The clothes were showcased in some flats above their offices which had a splendid view of London.

Thanks to House of Fraser for inviting me! If you're interested in any of these clothes, you can check out their website HERE.  .

Sunflowers and suede

Every day I walk past this flower stall and always see these incredibly bright and beautiful sunflowers (which happen to be my favourite). Last Sunday, I was out with my friend Sky and I thought, you know what let's buy some. The purchase happened to be rather amusing and an anecdote neither me or Sky are likely to forget. They also made an excellent addition to this outfit shoot.

Jacket - Vintage from Rokit
Playsuit - Asos
Boots - Thrifted
Bandanna - Rokit

I picked up this suede jacket during the summer, meaning it was so cheap (£6!). It was originally a gift for my Dad (I wanted to find a match for this jacket John Cusack wears in Serendipity) but I ended up stealing it (sorry Dad). When I bought it, it had this voucher for some Californian ice cream stall in the pocket, so it has obviously had quite a life before this. That's by far my favourite thing about vintage, think about all the different memories that have been made in this jacket, all the places its been and the people who've worn it. I like to think it was previously owned by an old Calfiornian man who played guitar on Venice beach, but the possibilities are endless.

Horoscope symbol ring - Market in Mallorca

This has been one of my favourite layering techniques for Autumn - putting a long sleeved t-shirt under my playsuit to almost turn it into a pair of dungaree shorts and adding tights for warmth. Side note: how aesthetically pleasing is it that everything in that gif is black and white besides the sunflowers?

This is Sky, who very kindly took these photos for me. She has a fab tumblr, which you can follow HERE. We became good friends on a school trip just before the Summer, and I've only just got round to editing and uploading the footage. I'm uploading to my Youtube channel a lot more now, and don't always share the videos on here, so make sure you subscribe HERE to see them first!

autumn aesthetics

I am currently going through what I call my 'witch phase' (my dad says I look like Morticia Addams which to me is the coolest complement ever). The second one of my existence I might add. The first came about when I was seven, and me and my best friend at the time threatened to turn our worst playground enemies into frogs. The friends who remember this will never let me hear the end of it. But this 'witch phase' is less spell driven and more steered by style. I had far too much fun prancing around this spooky pavilion in a floor length cardigan and editing little spiderwebs and cats into these photos (apologies in advance). Despite my love for fantasy stories and witchy clothing, I actually really hate Halloween. But I think I'm spending this year's in some spooky estate in Scotland, so I'm gonna be posting some cool stuff.

^a smiley photo to prove that I am totally a normal human being^

Gingham dress - TK Maxx
Floor length cardigan - hand-me-down
Boots - thrifted
Tights - M&S

I bought my necklace in Mallorca from this design your own jewellery store. I got three charms: a cresent moon, a sun and a rose quarts stone. They are detachable so I can wear them all together or separately and they totally add to the witchy vibe. My rings are from H&M or thrifted.

*play as you read*

Autumn is by far my favourite sseason. It has this amazing aesthetic of magic and witch-y-ness (so currently very fitting). It's fireworks and sparklers on gloomy nights. It's swishing orange leaves with well-loved combat boots. It's eating pizza whilst watching Wes Anderson films. It's running in the rain with new band members, desperately trying to keep your amps dry. It's pretending your Ginger Rogers when dancing on fancy marble floors. It's listening to swing music in the rain. It's getting lost in suburban streets, as the sun starts to rise and mist surrounds you. It's running for the bus on a Thursday night, filled up with cream soda and laughter. It's meeting new people, and time for new beginnings. It's suede jackets from vintage shops. It's when you wear all kinds of mystical jewellery, pretending (and secretly believing) it gives you magic powers. It's cold air and bright skies, big jumpers and fancy hats, independent cinemas, used book stores, alone time, time with friends, film cameras and journal entries.

If I had to permanently live in a season, this would definitely be it.
