SCANDI STYLE

This month has been the longest I've ever gone without posting since the start of this blog, and it was strange putting it aside. I've been kind of inactive on social media for a while due to the delightful presence of my looming GCSEs. Luckily, my mocks have now finished, and the New Year has been a nice opportunity for me to reassess what I'm doing. I think I'm finally going in a direction with my life and my art - I'm in a good place.

Although the shorts and tights combo is a little childish, it's something I feel really comfortable in, especially with the elegant silhouette of a long coat on top. Since visiting Stockholm last October, I've been taking a lot of inspiration from Scandi style. The people in Stockholm wore a lot of black and neutral colours, but kept it interesting with dramatic shapes and bright blonde hair. You can definitely see me channelling my Swedish roots in this outfit.

This is my last outfit post in the snow! I ordered this dazzling knitted dress specially for the mountains. It's basically a really comfortable woollen sack, but the length makes it so elegant.  It seems very odd posting such a winter outfit because England seems to be experiencing a bit of a heat wave right now. I'm starting to get into Summer mode and I've been listening to this dreamy electronic duo known as Oh Wonder. They have a really cool Summery vibe, with powerful beats and hazy chords. My favourite songs are Dazzle and Midnight Moon.

I'm enjoying my last days off school by reading in the sun and watching old Fringe episodes. What have you all been up to?

Divergent tag - video

Latest video is up on my Youtube! I filmed the Divergent tag since I loved the book so much. I actually read about 40 pages, then left it for a week. However I picked it up yesterday and finished it in that one day and barely put it down. At first I thought it was quite an average dystopia and similar to a lot of things I've read before but I eventually fell for it and became really attached to the characters. I recommend it to any of you looking for a (fairly light) teen book. It has a great story to it but a little romance enter twined (hence the teen popularity). I plan on reading the other two books in the series next and maybe doing a fashion video/post about inspired looks? Here is the video, as usual if you are reading through an app or an email you will have to click HERE to see and I'd love you to subscribe whilst you're at it!

Side note: how cool are these knee socks I picked up from Calzedonia? They remind me of what a Dauntless might wear in the book!

Have you read Divergent?

These boots are made for walking

I've been thrifting/charity shop shopping so much recently and have found some amazing things, including these wonderful combat boots. They are so good that an old man actually serenaded me on the bus today with 'these boots are made for walking' - it was brilliant (and slightly awkward). I've been looking for a dr martin style boot for a long time, but I wanted something slightly more elegant and feminine because although they look great on some, dr martens aren't for me. That's why I was so thrilled when I found these bad boys in a local charity shop BRAND NEW. They were at the pretty decent price of £13. Anyway I have so many other amazing finds which I can't wait to share with you in the future. Now, enjoy the sweet sound of Nancy Sinatra.

Can you bear it?

Do you see what I did there with the title (bear tights 'bear it'? No? ok never mind ^_^). These photos were taken a week or so ago when Pascale and I went to the Club to Catwalk exhibition at the V&A, tried to go to the cinema twice but failed, and ended up very sarcastically going on what is most likely the world's smallest ice rink. It was also not real ice and probably what you would find in my kitchen, but with a bit of water on it. It was still so much fun, and we could not stop laughing as we attempted to skate whilst drinking hot chocolate. The exhibition was really cool, but I wasn't allowed to take pictures (I took some sneaky ones shhh but I won't post them in case a museum person stumbles across my blog). I really like these photos because they have a sort of blue/purple haze to them which is really pretty.

I wore my new AMAZING bear tights which I love dearly. My jacket was actually my brothers when he was younger but I have inherited it and I have been wearing it so much lately. It's nicely oversized and it's brown leather material with a cosy lining. The cardigan underneath was simply to keep me warm (because now that Christmas is over I keep forgetting that it's still winter). I opted for a pink gingham button up shirt with a black skirt to really go with the kawaii/anime character/kaichou wa maid-sama theme.

I've been listening to HAIM's days are gone album lately and I LOVE it! The wonderful Mattie introduced me to them and I now have the biggest girl crushes. Some of my favourite songs from the album include 'The wire', 'Don't save me' and 'Go slow'.
much love
