The Glamour of Italian fashion exhibition at the V&A

Hello all! I'm currently on half term, where I get a week off school but I have to spend that week revising for exams. I'm actually really ill at the moment, so I have done barely any revision and the only thing my mind can focus on is episodes of Sherlock and '80s movies. Speaking of which I have found the greatest jacket known to man which totally reminds me of John Cusack's  signature jacket in Say Anything. I was clearing out our spare bedroom and found it at the back of  a wardrobe. It's a vintage jacket from the '80s that was my mum's (although she is never getting it back). It is such an amazing shape and I never want to take it off.

Jacket - Vintage
Jumper - really old
Skirt - I wore in a dance show last year and kept it because I really loved the colour
Boots - Thrifted
Bag (on my back) - Kanken
Dolphin choker - really really old

Recently I went to the Glamour of Italian fashion exhibition at the V&A. The V&A is my favourite museum in London and there are always new things going on there.  They had pieces that were in films in the '50s and '60s in Hollywood when Italian fashion was worn by people such as Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor. They also have pieces by Italian fashion houses such as Pucci, Valentino, Versace, Missoni, Prada and Miu Miu. All the clothes were so beautiful and daring. The exhibition was amazing and I really recommend going.

Chuck skirt and tartan tights

Hey! I have an outfit post for you today from my trip to Sweden a little while ago. I bought this amazing skirt when I was there after watching some episodes of Pushing Daisies and feeling very inspired by the character Chuck. She always wears fab poofy '50s skirts. The show was on TV a while ago but I was recommended it by a friend recently and now I'm hooked. It follows the path of a man, Ned, who can bring people back to life if he touches them. If he touches them again they go back to being dead and he can't revive them. But after touching them once, if they are alive for more than a minute someone in close proximity has to die in their place. It's a little confusing but the first episode explains it well. Chuck is Ned's childhood sweetheart who he brings back to life. However it's almost painful to watch as they are so in love but they can't touch. The two and a private investigator solve crimes together by reviving murder victims and asking them who killed them, then collect they reward. The best part of the show is by far Chuck's wardrobe choices, and the fact that Ned owns the coolest pie shop ever but that's a separate matter.

Hat - Sweden
Jumper - Topshop
Skirt - Sweden
Tartan tights - Clazedonia
Boots - Clarks
Leather cuff - Pure london goodie bag

one / two / three

It was an amazing coincidence that on the same day of watching the show and buying the skirt my grandma made pie for pudding without me even mentioning it to her. It was all very aesthetically pleasing and the pie was every bit as good as it looks.

I'd really like to do a full lookbook inspired by Chuck so let me know in a comment if you would be interested!

Birthday wishlist

Hello lovelies! My Birthday is coming up (March 5th to be precise) and I thought I would do a wishlist of the moment with a few things I'm loving.

For those of you who don't know (I think in this case that's few) I am obsessed with teddies. When I spotted this vintage sweatshirt on Asos it was love at first sight.

These shoes are so adorable. I basically live in different pairs of black ankle boots so I'm dying for some variety. I've seen a few of my favourite bloggers with similar ones and they always look so simple, fresh and cute. I can see these paired with some tie dye frilly socks.

I feel like this is such a wardrobe staple but I have barely endeavored into Maxi territory. You can layer it for Winter and it would also be fab in Summer on the beach. Also it's on sale for £10! Going to order this soon!

Desperate for a vinyl skirt at the moment, extra brownie points if it's a pastel one. I love the contrasting texture it can add to an outfit.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson

Franny and Zooey and Will Grayson, Will Grayson

Both of these books have been highly recommended to me. The first by Tavi in her talk at the Opera house and the second by many of my friends. I have so many books I want to read and this is only the start of the list.

Those are a few things I'm saving for/loving at the moment. Let me know if you find something you think I will like and tweet me HERE because I have been using my twitter a lot lately!

Tulle crown

Bonjour! Sorry I haven't posted in a week but I have been dealing with the GCSE choice process, various tests and (much more exciting) planning my agenda for the next few weeks as the fashion week season is fast approaching! I'm going to a couple of events over the month so look forward to posts about those! I posted a picture on my instagram of some Rookie/Tavi/Petra/Meadham Kirchoff inspired crowns but I thought I'd show you some better photos of the tulle one I made. I simply got some tulle/netting and cut small squares and circles then pinched them at the centre and glue-gunned them onto a white headband. I think it looks so pretty, and the light today was amazing so I couldn't not take any pictures.

This sweatshirt was my Mum's and originally white. It's years old so I dyed it a peacock blue to give it some life. I've also been into wearing super jazzy tights like these grey cable ones and the boots that I wrote about HERE have barely left my feet.

Headband - self made
Sweatshirt - old
Skirt - M&S
Tights - gah don't know sorry
Boots - thrifted

Blissful gloom

I wore this attire the other day when I walked along the river for a bit. It was a sort of gloomy but pleasant day and I went to a cafe and had green tea and a pastry. I wore this new jumper from topshop which has a satiny chiffon layer over the top of the front knit and it adds the coolest texture to your outfit. I paired it with my vintage belt and a skirt I bought in New York. It's actually the first proper time I'm wearing this skirt because it's a sort of weird shape to style. My patterned tights, which you may not be able to see, are probably from M&S but I don't really know. I'm also 3 weeks away from Christmas Holidays which is truly exciting but I have a lot of things to do before then. Ah but I can't wait until I can sleep in and have no school deadlines to worry about!

Jumper - Topshop
Skirt - Loft
Belt - Vintage
Tights - M&S
Boots - Gap

Trying new things 28.09.13

Saturday was the day of trying something new and for this I wanted to wear my backless leotard and my new tartan skirt. A while ago I was in search for the perfect leotard and couldn't find any ones which I liked. In the end I actually gave up and went to a dance website instead. This was a very good thing to do because who would make a leotard better than a dance store? I really recommend doing this if you want one. Lots of people don't understand the point of leotards but they are perfect for tucking into skirts or shorts because you don't have to worry about your top un-tucking or messing up. I didn't actually wear my Buffalo Exchange hat out, but I was loving the kind of saucy school girl vibe and wanted to show you it.

Hat - Buffalo Exchange
Leotard - Dance website
Skirt - Urban Outfitters
Boots - Gap
Belt - Vintage
Cardigan - Brandy Melville

Much love

Swirly sunglasses - Last day of Summer

On one of my last days in France my beloved Hippy sunglasses broke. If you have been living like Patrick starfish, and haven't seen them, you can see them HERE and HERE. I set out to find a replacement and in the midst of reflective Rayban copies, I found a gem!

I just LOVE the swirly sides.

Glasses - Some touristy french shop
Top - Topshop
Skirt - From an old dance show (I was determined to get more uses from it)

What have you been doing in the final days of Summer?

Lexi Likes -- Chiffon skirts: American apparel dupes

So I am sure you all have seen American apparel's gorgeous chiffon skirts that come in all different colours. They are beautiful and I love them but I have never indulged in buying one because at £40, they aren't cheap. I recently discovered a website called: http://missguided.co.uk/

They do some really trendy things very cheaply and I ordered a few things the other day. When I was looking, I saw that they had chiffon skirts almost exactly the same as the American Apparel's but for almost a quarter of the price! I ordered one in a cream colour and another in a pleated style, which AA don't do, in black.

The quality is great, they probably aren't quite as good as AA's but so far I am very pleased. They are perfect for Spring and Summer and have a very nice feel to them, not at all cheap. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and I think I will be buying some more of those skirts!
